NO Parabens, NO Phthalates, NO Sulfates!

If you’re seeking soft and lustrous hair, you might try reaching for a jar of our Coconut-Blackseed-Flaxseed Oil & Aloe Leave In Conditioner. These all natural oils are suited to nearly all hair types and is packed with fatty acids like omega-3’s,  Vitamin E,  and pure vegetable glycerin which actually helps your body attract moisture and soak up healthy ingredients that are good for your skin and hair. This makes for beautiful strong hair. By penetrating the hair, the oils can reduce the amount of water absorbed into your hair. This helps limit everyday hair damage and breakage.

DIRECTIONS – We suggest using your leave-in conditioner on wet hair and style accordingly.

Ingredients – coconut oil, blackseed oil, flaxseed seed oil,  pure vegetable glycerin,  aloe vera, lavender oil, amber oil

Use And Benefits

Coconut oil helps repair most everyday damage, improve texture, and restore health and shine to your hair. Hair is made of protein, particularly keratin. Dyes, bleach, shampoos, and styling products can damage this protein and leave hair dull and fragile. Coconut oil is the only oil capable of reducing protein loss. This is true for both undamaged and damaged hair.

Blackseed oil (Nigella sativa) oil can, in fact, be helpful for those struggling with thinning hair or shedding.  Black seed oil mixed with coconut oil helped promote hair growth. Study has shown that hair fallout was reduced by 76 percent when subjects used a hair oil containing black seed oil (Nigella sativa). And a 2013 study showed that women with telogen effluvium—that’s sudden, temporary hair fallout or thinning—experienced an improvement after using the ingredient topically.

So what’s behind black seed oil’s crown boosting powers? That’d be thymoquinone, a component of the oil that has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. These effects can help create a supportive scalp environment for healthy hair growth.

Flaxseed oil is great for hair that is prone to breakage and damage. The Vitamin E in flaxseed oil helps to treat hair loss and stimulate new hair growth. Lignans act as strong antioxidants which can help in the regrowth of healthier and stronger hair. Topical application of flaxseed oil prevents flaking and nourishes the scalp from within, providing relief from dandruff.
Pure Vegetable Glycerin  makes your hair shiny and hydrated. You’ve probably tried all sorts of conditioners and hair masks. Glycerin has ingredients that can actually pull moisture into the hair, keeping it hydrated from the inside out and is deeply hydrating for hair. It’s helpful for damaged hair and conditions well enough to stop breakage. Hair will appear to grow faster because it’s not breaking off at the ends. Glycerin can also condition a dry scalp. When used as a leave-in treatment, it can help lessen dandruff.
Aloe Vera helps resolve the scalp inflammation that dandruff causes. The fatty acids found in the aloe plant have anti-inflammatory properties. Aloe Vera cleanses the hair shaft efficiently, stripping off extra (oil) and residue from other hair products. What’s even greater aloe Vera doesn’t hurt your hair strands while it cleans. Unlike other chemicals in hair products, aloe vera is gentle and preserves the integrity of your hair. Aloe Vera contains vitamins A, C, and E. All three of these vitamins contribute to cell turnover, promoting healthy cell growth and shiny hair. Vitamin B12 and folic acid are also contained in aloe vera. These components can keep your hair from falling out.

Formulated Without Parabens, Phthalates, Sulfates

  • Why Our Products Are Made Without – Parabens, Phthalates, Sulfates:
It’s been proven that parabens are able to penetrate the skin’s barrier into our bodies. Once in our bodies, parabens can potentially disrupt our endocrine system and interfere with our hormonal production by mimicking estrogen – leading to potential reproductive and developmental issues.
Parabens are a group of synthetic compounds commonly used as preservatives in a wide range of health, beauty and personal care products. If the product you are using contains methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben and isobutylparaben, it has parabens.

These ingredients are added to deodorants, toothpastes, shampoos, conditioners, body lotions and makeups, among other products, to stop the growth of fungus, bacteria and other potentially damaging microbes. Researchers have also found that some 90 percent of typical grocery items contain measurable amounts of parabens, which is why even those who steer clear of potentially harmful personal care products also carry parabens around in their bloodstreams.

What worries public health advocates is that while individual products may contain limited amounts of parabens within safe limits set by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), cumulative exposure to the chemicals from several different products could be overloading our bodies and contributing to a wide range of health problems.

Of greatest concern is that parabens are known to disrupt hormone function, an effect that is linked to increased risk of breast cancer and reproductive toxicity, Parabens mimic estrogen by binding to estrogen receptors on cells.” Research has shown that the perceived influx of estrogen beyond normal levels can in some cases trigger reactions such as increasing breast cell division and the growth of tumors.

There is  a 2004 British study that detected traces of five parabens in the breast tumors of 19 out of 20 women studied. This small study does not prove a causal relationship between parabens and breast cancer, but it is important because it detected the presence of intact parabens—unaltered by the body’s metabolism—which is an indication of the chemical’s ability to penetrate skin and remain in breast tissue.

According to the group, a more recent study found higher levels of one paraben, n-propylparaben, in the axilla quadrant of the breast where the highest proportion of breast tumors is found. Parabens have also been linked to reproductive, immunological, neurological and skin irritation problems.

Health advocates are pressuring the FDA to ban parabens in products sold in the U.S.—like the European Union did in 2012—but concerned consumers must take matters into their own hands for now by reading product labels and avoiding products with parabens.

We look for all-natural and organic cosmetics manufacturers who use effective alternatives to parabens to prevent microbial growth in our personal care products.  We offer preservative-free products that may have shorter shelf lives than conventional products (six months to a year), but if used daily are likely to be used up before they expire.

Similar to parabens, phthalates can also be harmful to our endocrine systems as they may cause reproductive and developmental concerns. The European Union has banned cosmetic companies from incorporating phthalates into their products, but their use is still widespread in the U.S.
The concern around sulfates is that they are skin irritants that can strip skin of its natural oils – leading to dryness and irritation. For some, continued use of sulfates such as sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) can set off a reaction as it can penetrate the skin’s barrier, making it more vulnerable to the absorption of other irritants.
In their current form, parabensphthalates and sulfates are still considered safe by the FDA as cosmetic companies only use a very small concentration of these ingredients. Despite being able to legally include these ingredients in products, the concern around them is reason enough to seek alternative skin care products that will not pose a threat to our health and bodily function.
